So my mom and I were going through my grandma’s VCR tapes. There has to be at least one hundred of them littering our basement floor…
As we go through these VCR’s and grandma’s hair ties, my mother is having a tribute to grandma’s 1950’s curlers…rolled in her hair…good lord
She also just put on a pirates eye patch and yelled Aye-Aye!!!
Apparently my mother is having such fun with these hair ties because she is flinging them at my chest…she hasn’t missed yet…ouch!
She just took the curlers out of her hair…that didn’t work at all….but us Cleary’s have enough body in our hair to bring back the 80’s with one can of hairspray…
Every time she picked one up I would find a reason to keep it. Every movie has a memory which is connected to grandma…
Keep:
101 Dalmations: Hello! Who doesn’t love dogs that can talk! Grandma always enjoyed Cruella
Santa Clause 2: Tim Allen. Always a favorite.
Stuart Little: Grandma always laughed so hard when that little mouse talked. No matter how many times we watched it, she couldn’t control herself.
Annie: She always loved Daddy Warbucks….I’m pretty sure she had a thing for him…
Garfield: Really mom? Who would throw away a movie about a fat cat who loved lasagna? Grandma would always get a kick about the way his fat body would move when he walked…she would almost pee herself when he would jump into his chair and roll over onto his back…those fat rolls made her laugh even harder.
The jungle book: The one acted out by real people not the cartoon one. I was always fascinated at the fact that the man never said one word but he was so hot, my nine year old self really could appreciate his manliness. One thing my grandma did teach me was the value of a good looking man.
Grey Owl: A very young Pierce Brosnan really did work his body in that film…yummy.
Throw Out:
The Country Bears: My mom said she hated those damn bears, creeped her out. Grandma always though they were so cute running around in their tour-bus having adventures.
Air Bud: nope he was always getting lost, made me cry every time.
E.T.: Creepy little alien. After watching that movie, grandma would love to chase me around the house with her long wrinkly finger because she knew I was scared of ‘E.T phone home’.
Goosebumps: Nope can not handle a guy turning into a creepy werewolf and going after little children. No thank-you R.L. Stine.
Flubber: As much as I love Robin Williams, my grandmother and I were not fans of the little jello people…although she did laugh hysterically when they danced.
Bahaha E.T.
